We invite any woman in relatively good health to join us on our retreats, but we understand that “good” health can mean different things to different women. Therefore, we’ve created a list of physical and mental eligibility requirements that will help you determine if Quiet Adventures is for you.
You must be able to...
Independently travel over and negotiate varied terrain for duration of the adventure while carrying all personal equipment (i.e., pack, gear, shelter). Note: This applies to backpacking retreats only.
Hike 3-6 miles per day (please check individual trip itineraries for mileage and elevation) and participate in gentle yoga. Withstand elevations of 6,500-9,500 feet.
Adapt to venue terrain changes brought on by inclement weather and changing light conditions. This may include rain, snow, ice, cold, tree cover, etc.
Withstand environmental factors associated with the retreat (i.e., temperatures below freezing during winter activities, temperatures above 80°F or hotter during summer activities).
Understand and follow directions and instructions given by others to avoid hazards and/or manage risks. This includes following safety and emergency procedures.
Effectively signal or notify Quiet Adventures Guides of personal distress, injury, or need for assistance.
Contribute to a safe learning environment. No harassing or abusive behavior of others for any reason is tolerated.
Be prepared to learn and practice Leave No Trace Principles (as set out by Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics).
Access and exit Quiet Adventures’ venue locations independently or with the assistance of a companion. Note: Ease of access and exit might be impacted by weather changes .
If you have any questions or concerns about the above requirements, we encourage you to email us directly at [email protected], or call us at (415) 656-8610.
